Relating Your Plan to the Campus Plan

V. Nurture Human Resources

Members of the university community — students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends — make the university work efficiently, and the environment in which they operate must be conducive to excellence. We need to be more receptive to difference and become more aware of it as a source of strength and appeal, not an impediment to the maintenance of a status quo. We are becoming global, both in composition and influence, and we need to develop a competence that reflects this if we are to continue to advance together.

Goals

  • To build a welcoming, inclusive, engaged community

  • To increase involvement in governance among all campus communities

  • To promote and develop leadership training opportunities

  • To enhance diversity among students, faculty, and staff

  • To diminish social reliance on alcohol or other potentially destructive influences
